Back in the days blush was called rouge; it was used to bring out a woman’s cheekbones. The cheekbones if the make up was applied the right way would appear higher. Women back then would leave the house without some blush, it would leave the cheeks naked and they did not want to portray a bad image, so they would not leave the house until their make up was complete.
Blush comes in very different shades, some shades are dark and some are very soft and very subtle. Many make up artists say that to have the perfect make up is to appear like you aren’t wearing any, so the object of putting on blush is to be very subtle. Choose colors that match your skin tone.
Some of the softer tones in blush are Spice, Clementine, Plum, Peach, Rose, Tawny and Apricot. These colors if you have a fair skin tone will give your face a soft glow not something that looks like the Bride of Frankenstein. Some of the best blushes come from M.A.C, Cover Girl, Almay, Sephora and Maybelline. Each brand has its own color line, so if you like one color in one brand it may not necessarily be in another, so keep that in mind as you shop for make up. You may be able to find your perfect shade in every brand of make up.
